UC Davis Center for Entrepreneurship
Business Development Programs

The UC Davis Center for Entrepreneurship, a collaboration between the Graduate School of Management and the UC Davis Office of Research, offers several business development programs designed to introduce graduate students, Ph.D. students, research scientists and faculty members to the principles and practices of entrepreneurship and new business development.

  • Business Development Certificate Program - One-year program that provides an introduction and hands-on experience in developing new business ventures designed to commercialize research. Participants take courses in technology management, innovation and entrepreneurship as well as practicum courses working alongside MBA students.
  • Business Development Intensive Program - A week-long summer program for UC Davis Ph.D. and post-doctoral students who can commit to a five-day intensive workshop integrating lecture, exercises and team projects. Participants will gain knowledge and skills necessary to recognize, develop and communicate potential commercial opportunities arising from their research.

  • Business Development and Entrepreneurship for MBAs - This multi-class program connects MBA students with world-class UC Davis researchers and engineers. Students gain hands-on experience in developing new business ventures and an opportunity to apply the skills developed in the core curriculum. Students take courses in Technology Management (MGT 250), Innovation Management (MGT 251), New and Small Business Ventures (MGT 244) and two practicum courses: Business Development Clinics (MGT 298–2, MGT 298–3).
