Business school is much more than case studies, lectures and team projects. At the Graduate School of Management, students also pour their energy into activities—they work hard and play hard.
Students participate in intramural sports, organize a regional business plan competition, hold networking events, plan a special executive-student golf tournament, volunteer in the community, offer consulting servicesand run student clubs.
All clubs and activities are available to both daytime and working professional students.
Here is just a sample of activities you can get involved in:
The Dean's Student Advisory Council (DSAC) works to ensure that Bay Area students are represented to the Dean and administration. The DSAC also helps plan social events for students and helps connect students in all three MBA programs and alumni. The committee also assists the GSM in recruiting students to participate in a variety of school-wide events including seminars and activities.
Working closely with the Career Services Center, these student groups raise awareness of opportunities in their fields, from marketing and finance to technology and consulting. By linking students, faculty, alumni and industry professionals, these clubs help develop future leaders, enhance career development and build connections.
Charged-up students combine their collective marketing, strategic planning and networking power to create their own "Big Bang!"—the annual UC Davis Business Plan Competition designed to promote entrepreneurship and innovation. Students organize every aspect of the competition including raising prize money, recruiting venture capitalists as sponsors and judges, and matching entrepreneurs to form teams around compelling innovations and ideas.
Challenge for Charity supports the Special Olympics and family related local charities while infusing business leaders with a lifelong commitment to community involvement and social responsibility. This business school organization, the largest of its kind in the world, draws on the talents, energy and philanthropic efforts of MBA students from eight top West Coast business Schools.
The mission of Net Impact is to foster a new generation of leaders who use the power of business to create a better world. Net Impact offers a portfolio of programs to help members broaden their business education, refine their leadership skills, pursue their professional goals and build their network.
Each year we invite more than 350 of the School’s Business Partners, 2,000 MBA alumni, faculty, staff and students to the ASM Golf Classic. This past year, the tournament was played at the Chardonnay Golf Club in Napa, with proceeds going to the annual Graduate School of Management Student Fellowship award. The event is organized entirely by students of the UC Davis Graduate School of Management and has a proven record of attracting top-level contributors for 15 years running.
