Organizational Culture and the Employee Value Proposition
Most leaders understand and are strategic about the value proposition that their company offers to customers. Fewer leaders are strategic about the value proposition they offer to employees and potential employees. Organizational culture is the key element of every employee value proposition, although few leaders have methods or tools for measuring and tracking company culture from a workforce perspective. In this session we discuss how leaders can understand, benchmark and differentiate their organization’s culture and Employee Value Proposition relative to other organizations. The focus is on competing more effectively in the talent market by understanding the unique characteristics of your Employee Value Proposition and what types of employees will fit best. We will use an interactive lecture and a break-out debate to discuss (a) whether it is best to have a single culture or many subcultures, (b) whether leaders should strive for a single set of values or a diverse set values when forming teams of hiring new employees, and (c) how leaders can be disciplined about measuring culture, making strategic culture changes and tracking the changes that are occurring.
